Northern Nail Polish started in a tiny one-bedroom apartment with a shoebox full of glitters and micas. My very first shades, Petoskey Stone and Beach Glass, were inspired by things I loved and moments I wanted to bottle. Since then, you’ve helped plant over 5,000 trees, raised thousands of dollars for local organizations, supported other makers through my self care boxes, and stood by me through every new chapter of this little handmade business.
I wanted to offer something that brings us back to the heart of handmade and small local businesses… so I’m offering something I’ve never done before: a chance to order a custom nail polish that I will create just for you.
From now until Dec 7th, you can order a completely custom nail polish that I will mix by hand, one bottle at a time, based on your quiz answers. You choose the color family, the inspiration, the vibe, or you can let it be a total mystery. You can name it yourself or let me name it for you. Whether it’s inspired by a favorite place, a memory, a person, a season, or simply a feeling you want to wear, I’ll turn it into a meaningful, one-of-a-kind shade.
These make incredible gifts too. Imagine telling someone their polish was created just for them by a Northern Michigan maker! It suddenly turns into something personal and truly special.

I design the polishes to typically apply opaque in 2 coats, unless otherwise stated in the product description above. Top with our 30 Second Quick Drying Top Coat to give it a longer life and glossy finish! When you’re done wearing, it can be easily removed with our Natural and Nourishing Soy-based Nail Polish Remover.
