A Personal Note about my CD Northern Lights

Northern Lights is a deeply personal album I made with care and intention. It’s not mass-produced. It’s personal, heartfelt, and as handmade as I could make it

The disk itself features a stunning photo of the Northern Lights we saw from our backyard in May 2024. To make each copy special, I hand-applied holographic silver foiling to highlight the stars and text on the front, giving every disk a unique finish.

Inside are 22 songs I wrote during some of the most transformative seasons of my life—through motherhood, running a business, heartbreak, healing, self-care, and learning to love again. They’re deeply personal, and I created them with my son in mind, so he'd always have this little piece of me. He’s heard me sing these in the car again and again on our way to school.

I release music under the name Casey Blue—a name close to my heart. I used to go by “Casey” in school before shortening it to just “KC”, and “Blue” comes from the vibrant, soul-soothing blues of Lake Michigan’s waters that always bring me home.

While I love all kinds of music, these songs found their voice in the country genre—because storytelling is its soul. But if you’re not usually into country, especially the kind wrapped in clichés about trucks, beer, or religious themes—don’t worry. This isn’t that. These are reflective songs about being human. Think of them like honest conversations set to music. So far, the friends and family I’ve been brave enough to share it with have truly loved them—and I hope you will too!

About the Tracks on Northern Lights

Each of the 22 songs on this album tells a part of my story—woven from real moments of motherhood, self-care, grief, love, healing, and hope.

🌊 The Lakes Call Me Home is a love letter to Michigan—the forests, dunes, and waters that inspire everything I create.

🌟 Shine On was written for my son, the brightest light in my life, and Right Where I Belong is for my husband, who completed our little family.

Northern Lights recalls the magical moment we saw them dance above our backyard—and captured the photo that became the album cover.

💗 Built on Love is a thank-you to my parents, who built my world with kindness and intention.

🧶 Winter Hands, Warm Heart honors my late ‘Meme’ and the love she passed down in every handmade stitch.

💁‍♀️ Crown of Curls is about learning to love what makes us unique, and Play It All celebrates the chaotic, beautiful playlist that shaped my life.

🛠️ It’s Handmade is a real one for my fellow makers—the hustle, the heart, and the reality of handmade business life.

🍝 Mom’s Tears in the Spaghetti is a raw song about financial struggle and love showing up in unexpected ways.

🌧️ Storms Don’t Last Forever is a reminder that even the darkest days pass.

💨 Breathe It Out speaks to anyone managing stress and anxiety.

🐶 By My Side is for my dog Benny, who’s always with me—no matter what kind of day it is.

🎆 July Fourth Up North is a nostalgic celebration of family traditions, named after a nail polish I make.

🌊 River of My Youth remembers childhood wonder along the Betsie River.

🥶 Cold Snap captures the slow freeze of a love that no longer fits.

💔 I Feel It All is for the empaths—for those who feel deeply and carry more than they should.

🎨 Brushstrokes & Bandages is about healing through creativity and small acts of self-care.

📚 Sunlit Pages celebrates the quiet joy of cozy, book-filled afternoons.

🔥 Built From Nothing is for the dreamers and hustlers who start with nothing but keep going anyway.

🪟 Stained Glass Hearts imagines unity through our differences—because together, we’re stronger.

🌀 And finally, Wait, What Was I Doin’? is a lighthearted anthem for every ADHD parent (or anyone who's ever walked into a room and forgotten why).

A note about how I created these songs:

I’ve been hesitant to share this music with you, my friends—not because it lacks authenticity, but because of how complicated and messy the conversation around AI has become. Without it, this album wouldn’t exist. These songs lived in my heart for years, and AI helped me finally share them. Not as a shortcut, but as a bridge.

I know AI is a complicated subject, and I respect the concerns artists have. We absolutely need protections and boundaries. But I also believe there’s room for AI to be used ethically—to help people like me tell stories that would otherwise never be heard.

This isn’t fast content. It’s not mass-produced. It’s personal, heartfelt, and as handmade as I could make it be—right down to the foil I pressed onto every disk. I made it for anyone who’s ever felt too much, or not enough. These songs… they come from the deepest parts of me. They carry my story—quiet moments of healing, messy growth, love, loss, and hope. I’ve used every tool available to me to bring them to life—not to chase trends, but to leave something real behind.

If you take the time to listen, I hope you feel a little less alone. I hope you feel seen. And I hope you hear the soul I’ve put into every lyric.

🎵 Thank you for listening.
