Northern Apothecary Eye Shadow, Blush, and More! My Look on February 24th

Hey guys! If you follow my on social media, you may already know… I began making eyeshadow and blushes, and providing other natural cosmetics and household items launching in the new section on my website!

I love wearing makeup! My daily routine is light and fast, for a natural look.

I would start by rubbing a layer of lotion all over my face, applying concealer under my eyes and around my nose and chin to neutralize the dark circles and any redness. Then I would apply eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and then blush. Lastly, I go with either a plain lip moisturizer, tinted balm, or some lipstick for special occasions. However….

Recently I began thinking about the chemicals that are used in all the normal drug store cosmetics that were in my collection. I have been using my natural nail polish for years, but what if there were harmful ingredients in my daily makeup routine? So I decided to check into it, and I bet you already know what I found! 🤔 Eeek!

The eyeshadows and blushes that I handcraft here in Traverse City, MI are all loose mineral pigments, without any fillers or additives. That means you use a fraction of the amount you normally would since it is so highly pigmented. All vegan ingredients, from cruelty free certified sources. Non-toxic and chemical free eyeshadows and blush. Fragrance free, paraben free, and dye free.

Since it’s a loose eyeshadow, I recommend using a primer or concealer to prime your lids for the pigment. The jar comes with a sealed sifter, so after you peel the seal, you can gently tap some powder into the lid, swirl your finger or a brush around the lid to pick up the color and apply.

I am launching Northern Apothecary with 6 shades of eyeshadows and 3 shades of mineral blushes. They are available under the tab “Northern Apothecary” on the website!

Northern Apothecary Eyeshadows in “Driftwood” and “Sand Dunes

Northern Apothecary Blush: “South Haven

Here is my look from Monday, after wearing all these products all day.

I used the Vegan Concealer in Color 02 (light) for my skin tone. Here is a photo I took after a full day of wear. The concealer stayed on really well and didn’t cake or crease. I also used it as primer for my loose eyeshadow. I should’ve taken a before photo, because believe it or not, at the time of this photo I was getting over a cold and had dark circles under my eyes and redness under my nose and on my chin before applying my makeup for the day. This concealer WORKS! And I love that it’s natural and organic!

I used the loose eyeshadow in shade “Sand Dunes” all over my lid, then added a highlight of “Driftwood” to the inside corners of the eyes for a brightened, fresh and awake look. I took a close up photo so you could see the detail.

I applied the brow pomade and the eyeliner using the angled brush from the bamboo set. Then I applied the botanical mascara onto my lashes. I used the flat kabuki brush for my blush. I just tapped a small amount of blush powder from the sifter into the lid, and used the brush to apply to my cheeks. Lastly, I used the tinted lip balm in the shade Rose Gold.

Something new to me that I began only after researching natural cosmetics and skin care ingredients and routines is using a facial roller and face oil after I get out of the shower and before applying my makeup. I feel so relaxed and beautiful in my own skin after using a facial massager. I’ve added it to my morning routine paired with Northern Apothecary Restorative Premium Facial Oil. It applies lightly and absorbs quickly without leaving any heavy, oily feel and my skin is loving this nourishing oil especially during the dry winter months.

Gently gliding this facial roller over your skin 1-2 times a day, such as after you get out of the shower or before bedtime, gives you a luxurious rejuvenating and relaxing facial massage right at home.

The weight of the green nephrite jade stone gliding over your skin is enough pressure to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, stimulate blood circulation to your skin, massage the lymphatic system, and may help reduce inflammation on the face, chin, forehead, and neck.
