Fun Fact: Lake Superior really earns its name. Lake Superior is also known by the Ojibwe name Gichigami (often written Gitche Gumee), meaning “great sea” or “great water,” a fitting name for a lake so enormous it holds about 10% of the world’s surface freshwater. Its cold, powerful waters are also tied to one of the Great Lakes’ most famous shipwrecks: the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, which sank during a fierce November storm on November 10, 1975, taking all 29 crew members with it. The tragedy was later immortalized in Gordon Lightfoot’s The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. It’s the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area, reaches about 1,333 feet at its deepest point. It’s so enormous that all four of the other Great Lakes combined still contain less water than Superior.
Here in Traverse City, advocate group FLOW (For Love of Water), works to protect the Great Lakes through water law, policy, education, and the idea that these waters are a shared public resource that should remain healthy, public, and protected for generations to come. Most Northern Nail Polish shades are designed to be opaque in 2 coats, unless noted in the description above. For the longest-lasting manicure, finish with our Glossy 30 Second Quick Drying Top Coat. When you are ready for a new color, remove with our Natural and Nourishing Soy-based Nail Polish Remover.
